Hi! This page will help you with setting up AnomalyRO. If you run into any issues along the way, please open a topic in the forums or submit a support ticket on the main site.

Creating an Account

If you haven't already created an account, you can do so here. This will create your master account, which holds all of your game accounts under a single login. It'll also create your first game account, using the same login info, as well as creating your forum and wiki accounts!

You only need to create one master account. After you've created your master account, you can create new game accounts here if you'd like.

Downloading the Server

Once you have an account, you'll need to download the server files. The downloads page is found here. Simply download and run our custom installer, and it'll do everything else for you.

If you already have a Ragnarok Online folder that you'd like to install the server into, select it as the install destination, and the installer will automatically detect any existing files and only download the ones you need, just like using a standard small client.

Patching/Updating

Once you've downloaded the server files, you'll need to run the patcher to make sure your files are fully updated. You should run the patcher every time you play to make sure you aren't missing any recent patches. If you don't patch, you may run into errors or crashes while playing.

To patch, simply run the AnomalyRO Patcher.

In some cases, some antivirus programs may detect the patcher as a false positive. The patcher will only ever update files within the AnomalyRO folder, so you can safely add it as an exception to your antivirus.

Client Setup

You may want to adjust some of your client settings before continuing. To do this, simply click the Settings button in the patcher, which provides easy access to our Custom Client Settings. To access the normal client settings, click Graphics Settings in the main settings app, which will run OpenSetup. Here you can select your graphics card, set the window resolution you want, and change other settings such as the sprite/texture quality.

If any of the selections are empty when using OpenSetup, you may be missing some drivers. Depending on your operating system, this can usually be fixed by installing the DirectX Runtime files from Microsoft, or by updating your graphics card drivers. In some cases, you may also need to run both opensetup and the client (AnomalyRO.exe) as an administrator - you can do this by right clicking it and selecting "Run as administrator."
