Update: The Bounty and MVP ladders now each give 3/2/2/1/1 Mithril Coins to the top 5 rankers each month

Balancing

 

We've got some pretty significant changes here, so I'm going to include some quick context for a few of them.

Combat Knife has been a bit of an awkward item to balance around for a while now, so we've decided to dial back its power a bit, and also change it to a more dedicated defensive item. This should also address some concerns around Assassin Crosses, who have been able to make full use out of everything the item offers without any real drawbacks. Of course, Whitesmiths will also see a notable hit from this, so we've given them innate accessibility to the Def piercing effect that it previously had.


Spider Web is another awkward one, being a skill that offers a huge amount of utility; we don't want to completely gut it because it is a pretty effective counter to the zerg rushing strategy in WoE, but we've tried to make it a bit riskier to use offensively and provide more opportunity for counterplay.


And the last bit of context is the Soul Linker rework! We wanted to make them more viable as an actual support class, and less of a "leave my alt in town to link myself" class. We've looked at all of the soul links and tried to make every link useful in some way, even if it's just something small in a few cases, so that linking all of their allies will actually provide a meaningful advantage. We've also changed how their other buffs work, allowing them to more consistently provide support for their allies even if they're not linked.

 

Buff: Bows and guns have had their innate resistance increased from 35% -> 40%
Nerf: Combat Knife's Demi-Human resistance has been reduced from 10% -> 5%, and no longer pierces the Defense of Demi-Human targets
Buff: Maximize Power now causes the Whitesmith's attacks to pierce the Defense of Demi-Human targets
Buff: Maximize Power can no longer be dispelled
Nerf: Spider Web's duration has been reduced from 2/4/6 seconds -> 1.5/2/2.5 seconds
Nerf: Spider Web now has a 750ms cooldown (does not affect casting of other skills)
Nerf: Spider Web's casting range has been reduced from 7 cells -> 5 cells
Nerf: Tarot Card of Fate's Hanged Man stop effect duration has been reduced from 30s -> 5s
Buff: Holy Light's base damage has been increased to 375% damage when used by a Priest (linked damage is unchanged, this is simply to make the damage less reliant on being linked)
Nerf: Heal effectiveness is now reduced by 20% when used by a Monk
Buff: Soul Linker's Ka- buff skills can now be used on a single ally even while unlinked (casting a buff on another ally will clear the buffs from the first target)
Nerf: Assassin Spirit will now always increase Sonic Blow damage by 25%, even on non-WoE maps
Buff: Full Adrenaline Rush (granted by Blacksmith Spirit) will now increase Cart Termination's damage by 10%
Buff: Crusader Spirit will now recover 1% of max HP every 5 seconds after being out of combat (no damage taken/dealt) for at least 10 seconds
Buff: Hunter Spirit will now allow True Sight and Attention Concentrate to be used inside of Quagmire
Buff: Knight Spirit will now reduce Decrease Agi's duration by 50% (note that this stacks multiplicatively with the enchantment)
Buff: Monk Spirit will now return Heal power to normal values
Buff: Priest Spirit will now increase Sanctuary's healing by 10% when healing allied targets (excluding the caster)
Buff: Sage Spirit will now reduce reflected magic damage by 5%
Bugfix: Fixed Lullaby not working correctly when used by Clowns
Bugfix: Fixed custom statuses such as Deep Wound being applied to monsters that are immune to status effects
Bugfix: Fixed an issue that could cause Cart Boost's initial speed bonus to last longer than intended in some cases

Any reason why WS get an innate incant? Even the LK's Aura blade doesn't work like an incant. The damage output with their resists are already pretty high. And their CT already has m/def reduct. They already do a LOT of damage and many of them ran lots of different weapons aside from CK (such as solar swords, poison dagger, excalibur etc. and that seemed fine). This is  huge boost for them imo. Not to mention the Link buffs which add 10% more to a WS ct???

  • Now reduces an enemy's DEF/MDEF by 3%; this effect stacks up to 5 times for a total of -15% DEF/MDEF (500ms duration for the first 4 stacks and 2500ms duration for all 5 stacks)

-15% Def is very minimal in most cases (if someone has 30 Def, -15% would only reduce that to 25), the debuff is more for the MDef reduction to allow allies to focus down the same target. Keep in mind that they are losing some resistance here as well, and link damage isn't entirely reliable as the Whitesmith can't refresh it if it gets dispelled or runs out.

 

We do plan to keep a close eye on them after this update, particularly with Solar Sword (which may end up needing its own adjustments). If it turns out that they're overtuned we'll make adjustments as needed to bring them in line.

 

Also worth noting that I just updated the post to include something that I missed in the original notes, which is a bug fix for Cart Boost that will affect their ability to chase down targets in some cases.
